Sottomarina and Chioggia
Sottomarina is a Peninsula in the South of the Venice lagoon and its beach is about 7 Kms long.
The center is divided in two parts: the old one in the North until the dam of Chioggia and the new one in the South until the month of the River Brenta.
It is the most important and biggest hamlet of Chioggia. Its beach is renowned in all Italy.
Its air is rich of iodine, suggested above all for children and for its benefit to respiratory tract.
The sand of its beaches is very fine and made up of augite, quarts, silicates and some micaceous elements.
In the summer the most important squares that are near the Hotel Pineta are well patronized because there are many cultural and musical manifestations.
There are many restaurants, pizzerias, merry-go-rounds, aquatic parks, ballrooms and bathing establishments. So your Holidays will be unforgotten.
Sottomarina is 40 kms far from Venice and Padua and a long bridge of 800 metres links it to Chioggia.
Chioggia, city of Art, is very similar to Venice as kind of Houses and for the presence of calli (streets) and bridges.It is rich of historical palaces and important churches. There is the Civic Museum that exhibits archeological relics founded in the Adriatico in the churches there are paintings of important artists such as Tintoretto.
The difference from Venice is the presence of a principal course “Corso del Popolo”, that is practicable by bicycles and cars too.Its origin is very ancient, Plinio called it “Fossa Clodia” and It was important as help to Venice at the time of Marine Republics.
