Sottomarina and Chioggia

Sottomarina It is a 7 km long peninsula south of the Venice lagoon, the center of which is divided into the old part in the north to the Chioggia dam and the new part in the south until the mouth of the Brenta River.
It is the most important and largest district of Chioggia and its beach is known throughout Italy.
The air containing iodine is particularly recommended for children and for respiratory infections.
The sand on the beach is very fine and consists of augite, quartz, silicates and mica-containing elements.

Chioggia, a city of art, is very similar to Venice due to the conformity of the buildings and the presence of streets and bridges. It is full of historic buildings and important churches.
The city museum shows finds from the sea and the diocesan museum and the churches themselves show works by important artists such as Tintoretto.
Unlike Venice, Chioggia has the main street “Corso del Popolo”, which can be accessed by car and bicycle.
Its origins are very ancient, it was even called Fossa Clodia by Pliny and played an important role in supporting Venice during the time of the Maritime Republics.
